The Metamora Redbird Marching Band is a volunteer ensemble under the direction of Christopher Render with assistance from Dr. Wally Parks, Eric Loring, Kylie Hankosky, Marion Kennel, and Joshua Vidic.
The Metamora Redbird Marching Band is proud of its local Illinois Marching band accomplishments. With noteworthy performances and placements at events like the Western Illinois University Marching Classic, The Geneseo Marching Festival, the Washington, IL Panther invitational, The Limestone Marching Festival and the State of Illinois Marching Festival. The Metamora Bands are also proud of its recent past performances at Disney World, the Bands of America Super Regional & Grand Nationals, as well as the Music For All National Concert Band Festival.
The Redbird Marching Band is one of many ensembles offered through the comprehensive Music Program at Metamora Township High School. The Music Program at MTHS is proud of the involvement of nearly half of the MTHS student body of 1000 participates in a music class each and every school day. Classes and ensembles consist of two Concert Bands, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Steel Drum Band, Guitar, Piano, Hand Drumming, Five Choirs, and Music Theory. MTHS ensembles have performed at state and national events including the 2013 University of Illinois Super State Band Festival, 2009 & 2012 Illinois Music Educator Association state convention, 2010 Bowling Green State Band Music Reading and Directors Clinic and other various high schools and colleges. The young musicians at MTHS sing and play for a variety of audiences at nearly 50 performances per year—performances on campus, off campus, on the stage, and on the field.
